At Yots Hair, our colour team understands that achieving perfect colour is both an art and a science. We specialise in all areas of colour, including balayage and ombre techniques. Our team have perfected the art of multi-tonal, lived-in colour and work with clients every day to create and maintain these looks.
- The name Balayage comes from the French word meaning ‘to sweep’ – the technique involves the freehand painting of colour onto your hair to create a seamlessly blended result. Balayage highlights are scattered throughout the hair to create a more natural look than uniform foil highlights, adding dimension and depth to your hair. The technique works best when the balayage tone is kept several shades lighter than your natural colour. There are a number of different balayage techniques which our colour team use to achieve different results. These include free-hand painting, traditional highlighting, colour melting, root shadowing and hair contouring.
The Ombre effect is for those who favour a more dramatic look – a deliberate tonal fade from a dark root to a lighter end. For a softer, more subtle take on the trend, our Team has been loving Sombre colour, made popular by Cara Delevigne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Elizabeth Olsen. The technique results in a natural graduation between colours, creating a toned down transition from dark to light. Sombre colour works well on all hair tones – it can be used to achieve a natural sun-kissed look on blonde hair and looks amazing on dark brunette hair when paired with caramel and honey tones.
Your hair colour, type and length will all determine the technique that is right for you – sometimes, a mixture of techniques will be necessary to achieve the best result. It’s also important to remember that balayage and ombre colours are a process, and best achieved up over a few appointments to build multi-dimensional colour. Our colourists are highly-trained in all facets of balayage and ombre colour, and will work with you from your initial consultation to achieve perfect, flawless results.
